Nap Time

Rob and I tried very, very hard to get Emery to take a nap on Saturday afternoon but failed none the less. She fell asleep for about 10 mins (or less) in the car on the way home from the mall and needless to say, that was enough to last her a few more hours. We decided to lay down with her in her room. We fell asleep and woke up to this.....

I agree, it's not that bad. It could have been a lot worse. Normally she gets into her shoes & clothes and scatters them throughout the room too. (Heather - not nearly as nice as Kaden's spill but still enough to count, right?! lol.)

New Kicks

Thought I would show off Emery's nice little shoe collection - all thanks to family and friends. She loves to wear shoes around the house - hers, mine, Rob's, Uncle Mark's - doesn't matter, as long as they're shoes.
THANK YOU Molly for Emery's Rainbows - she loves them. They are somewhat big but they'll be perfect for next summer. She can't quite figure out the idea that the strap goes between the toes. Kind of funny. She'll be in style walking to the pool next summer with her flip flops and water polo ball. lol.
Also thought I would show off her little AllStars - THANK YOU Uncle Jake. I took them off and Emery pitched a fit for me to put them back on. They too are a little big but with socks, I think she can start to wear them now.

A Day at the Zoo with Friends

Took Emery to the zoo yesterday morning with three other ladies and their kids. Emery liked the kids more than the animals. She also insisted that she walk a lot more than usual so I basically just passed our stroller on to another family to use. She was asleep in the car before I got out of the parking lot. Quiet ride home but that also ruined the afternoon nap. Oh well. I know you guys are about sick of zoo pictures but I'm seriously running out of ideas. A couple of "praying mantis" pictures because Emery refused to get off without a fight - guess what, I won. :) By the way, THANK YOU Denise for helping me at the zoo, and once again, I only have one kid.

Feeding the GEESE

Nothing exciting to report for the weekend. Decided to feed the geese this afternoon. Emery kept eating the stale old bread instead of giving it to the geese. Can't get her to eat it during lunch time but when you start throwing it to the geese, she picks it off the ground to eat. Crazy how kids work sometimes.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

**Click on Heather's blog and check out the post titled "Inspirational". It's a 4 minute video or a short write-up you can read. Rob and I both thought it was really good.

Waterpolo

Took Emery to the pool this morning, first time in a while. Decided to try out some waterpolo and swimming skills. She's getting more and more brave in the water. She has figured out that she can sit down without the water going over her head and she has also learned that her body will float while she lays on her stomach and hands. Not too bad. Rob has been teaching her this in the tub so I think it has stuck.
Her waterpolo skills are a little rusty (where are you Molly when I need you?!) Soon enough, right?! She hasn't gotten the one hand throw down pat yet. lol. I'm sure it will come with enough practice.
Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Uncle Mark & Marshmallows

Now that we have had Uncle Mark with us for a while, Emery is getting pretty used to having him around. I tell her to go get Uncle Mark and she goes straight to his room. It's kind of funny. She can't talk so she just stands there and looks at him. When he gets up, she leads him to where I am. lol. Kind of funny.
Mark decided to make us "Apple Crisp Lasagna" tonight....interesting and creative but not so bad. Something he made up. It's regular lasagna but has apples baked in it. Yeah, I know. Never would've thought to do that but if you know Mark, it's really not that strange. lol. Emery sat on the stool and watched him for a while, then after she got bored, I gave her a marshmallow. Somewhat sticky but still very enjoyable.

Happy 30th Birthday Rob!!

Had the priviledge of celebrating Rob's 30th birthday this past weekend with lots of great food (BBQ with all the fixin's), family and friends. The weather was a little bit on the warm side (okay, mostly just burnin' up) and we had some smores to make it even hotter (at Rob's request) but also some waterballons to cool the kids off. We finished the night off with some fireworks, completely unplanned but a nice touch to the event. Afterall, turning 30 is a pretty big deal, at least that's what Rob says. HUGE thank you to mom and dad for pretty much doing it all for Rob!! We really appreciate it. Hope everyone had a great weekend!! Youth Lake Trip

Spent the day at the lake with the youth of our church yesterday. Kind of hectic but a lot of fun. Uncle Mark kept Emery for me ALL day long. Poor Mark, or is that poor Emery?! lol! Just kidding! Mark did wonderful. I called every so often to make sure everything was okay. Rob was on call so needless to say we never saw him yesterday. I was counting on him making it home to ease Mark's load but not much you can do when people are constanting breaking their bones here in Greensboro. THANK YOU Mark!!Hope everyone is having a good week!

Myrtle Beach

Wow what a week!! We had a WONDERFUL time on our vacation - now we need a week to recooperate. I took a ton of pictures so once again, you might be seeing them throughout the week. We really enjoyed the company we had and it was nice for Emery to be around other kids her age. She liked the ocean (only one sting by a jellyfish unlike her father who was stung 4 times), the pool, ice cream (almost every night - I guess that's no different from home but still..), giggling with Jessi, playing in the sand, riding the golf cart, and riding the big slide (well maybe not but it was fun for the rest of us). I told Pam that I haven't laughed as much in the past year as I have in the last week. It was great! I know Emery must be exhausted. She was going and going all week long. This next week will be an adjustment for us all. :) Hope everyone had a good holiday week!! p.s. Chas - the pictures of Rob are for you! :)
