Beginning of Summer

Emery is now in her last week of kindergarten and Rob and I are sitting here wondering where the time has gone. We attended her Spring Concert last week and enjoyed hearing them bang on the xylophone. They were pretty funny.
We celebrated Mark's birthday and Memorial day at the pool with the fam. It is so HOT around here. Usually these high temps don't hit until July. Oh well, at least there's a pool nearby.
We are looking forward to the summer and all the fun it brings. Happy Summer - fall will be here all too soon! :)

Summer Reading

After Emery leaves for school, I usually wander into their room to make sure their beds are made and to generally check things out. This morning I found her three books stacked neatly in the corner of her bed. She was reading with her flashlight last night when we told her goodnight. Not sure why she reads three books at once but it doesn't really matter as long as she's reading.
I have read the three books she is currently reading. I must admit, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is certainly questionable for her age. (But I was in tears laughing so hard at more than one part of the book.) Then again, I think too hard about these things. Her understanding and analyzing is not quite like mine so we've decided to let her read it. We've also bought her the Ivy & Bean series. Hopefully, these will keep her busy most of the summer. Spring Soccer

Emery's spring soccer season has officially come to an end. This year definitely kept her on her toes but she said she had fun. We're happy she still enjoys it. In the fall we might try co-ed again, we'll see. We also plan to let Riggs give it a try. lol. That should make for an interesting season.

"Expert Project"

Emery turned in her "Expert Project" this morning and will present it to the class this afternoon. Each child was to choose an animal and she chose the polar bear. Notice the matching "Alaska" shirt to go along with it. :) They are not suppose to receive any excessive help with this but if you notice her spelling, I think Rob may have encouraged a lot of it. lol. He didn't know she was suppose to spell everything on her own (I was at church). Writing the facts seems to be the hardest part so I thought her handwriting was great. I did help her position her six facts and "wonder" question and cut all the tape she needed. Other than that, she did a great job. She even found the "fur" when we were shopping at the craft store for supplies. The furry polar bear was a family favorite. Good luck Emery!!

Randomness

Not much going on around here. Just a few completely random pictures from this past week (that have nothing to do with our happenings).
A few happenings:
Klein is cruising and doing his best to keep up with Emery and Riggs. Emery had a soccer game yesterday and showed her skills with a nice goal (wish I would've recorded it). We had our extremely successful YM/YW Fundraiser last night. Camp is next on the agenda. Emery has less than three weeks of school. Where has the time gone.
The little ones are growing faster than we can keep up. I am so happy to spend my days with them because soon, these days will be gone.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful! I woke up to 19 homemade cards, all given to me at one time by Emery, Riggs and Rob (& Klein, sort of). After cards and pictures, we were off to church. Rob had to speak on "How the women in your life have helped you honor your priesthood." From what I heard in the mother's lounge and other's compliments, he did a nice job. Then again how could he not - he spoke about his mom, my mom and me. (lol, totally kidding). Mom and dad came over last night for dinner. I told mom she was our personal "Meals on Wheels". They brought steak, shrimp, cheesy potatoes, broccoli and fresh pineapple. We enjoyed dinner outside then had a friendly game of soccer with Emery, dad, mom, Rob and myself. Riggs was a sub every now and again. Hope everyone had a nice Sunday celebrating their mothers. I feel blessed to have a wonderful mother and mother-in-law. I feel even more blessed to be the mother of these three beautiful little ones. And to give props to Rob - he did pretty much everything today - cook, clean dishes, make homemade ice cream, feed babies and he even got a nap in. Thanks Rob. Happy Mother's Day.

Primary Temple Trip

Today was our Primary Temple trip. It's always nice to take our little ones to the temple, especially since we always stress the importance of it. "Practice what you preach" comes to mind. Emery and Riggs enjoyed being with their friends and learning about the temple. I must say, I did too.

Dinosaur Train

We set goals each year for the kids. One of Riggs' goals was to learn the alphabet. And by "learn" I do mean recognize the letters, in any order. Not just sing the alphabet song. (Yes, I do realize we are a little behind with this. No need to remind me.) We have been working on this since January. Once again, as his mother it is my fault he has not learned it earlier but I was beginning to lose hope at the beginning. He could not even remember the letter "A" for the longest time. After the first six or so he was on a roll. We promised him a Dinosaur Train when he learned them all. Every time we went to Target he would marvel at this dinky little train which in turn would motivate him to do his letters. Finally, this past weekend he recited all of his letters and earned his train. Nice job Riggs!! On to "our" next goal. :)
