Jacob bought these super cute name signs while in Charleston last week. Emery of coursed LOVED the princess theme. I ended up having to put her picture "away" because she kept wanting to hold it, carry it and poke at it with too much force. Until it's framed, she will have to look and not touch. THANKS Jacob for thinking of the little ones!! Emery is excited to tell you "thank you" in person.

He went from being our little star to our miniature bank robber. (Something we'll probably have to do to help pay for the thing - lol)

Yesterday was Riggs' appointment for the scan/picture of his head shape. The white hose over his face helps with the imaging. Certainly beats casting his head, something they use to do just a year or so ago. They took several shots, pulled it up on the computer for us to see, told us what they were going to do then we were done. In and out in 20 minutes. At our next visit, he will have one sharp looking helmet.

This past Friday I was reading the newspaper when a picture of a little kid on a slip-n-slide caught my eye. Under the picture was a request for summertime moments which could be submitted by mail or email. I immediately thought of this picture of Riggs, emailed it in Friday morning then thought nothing of it. You know how those things are, they never happen. Monday morning, Rob calls me from work and asks, "Did you send in a picture of Riggs to the paper because he's in it." One of his coworkers actually saw the picture and showed it to him. Kind of funny. And that's the story of how our little man became a star....or maybe more like his five minutes of fame.

Thanks again Leslie for the cover-up. You'd be surprised at how many pictures I have of Emery with this on. It's crazy but there are days when we don't leave the house and I could pretty much care less as to what she wears.
Thought these pictures were kind of funny. I took them so you could see her toes. Our carpet is shaggy so you can't see them too well but she is actually standing with her toes tucked under. I was a little taken back the first time she decided to show this to me during story time at the library. She's been watching way too many ballerina movies - thanks mom.

physical therapy aka torture

It's not really torture if it helps, I understand that, but our poor little man sure does not enjoy it. I like this first picture, he looks all grown up. They had to wet his hair down to take his pictures. After seeing his pictures, we understand why he needs a helmet. lol.





















Rob and I are both performing his "stretching exercises" (for his neck muscles) in these pictures. They look a little vicious but he'll be okay. Really and truly, I'm just saying that more for myself. Riggs is always fine, it's me who's a little on edge.

I showed Rob these two pictures a couple of days ago. He looked at them and said while pointing to one, "I like this one better". (I won't say which one he "liked better".) Obviously, he did not know one was Emery (the naked one) and the other one was Riggs (the one in blue, go figure). All I did was laugh.

"blankie" & 10K

Just thought this picture of Emery and her "blankie" were kind of funny. Rob insisted she have this particular blanket when she was born and now, they are inseperable. She picks it to pieces and chews on it constantly. I'm not sure how much longer the blanket is going to last. We actually bought her another one just like it but we were a little too late. She knew the difference as soon as we gave it to her. We should've had more than one from the beginning so we could alternate. (notice the shredding - part is around her neck, the other part on the floor)















I am late once again on posting since the 10K I ran was last weekend. To clarify, I am always late because our computer is a giant piece of junk. It's old and won't let me download pictures so Rob does it for me when he has time at work. Very nice of him. The blog must go on, even if our computer isn't. Just kiddin'. I think Rob is just being nice to me. It's cheaper than buying a new computer.
Anywho, Rob ran the first couple of miles with me then he became my cheerleader/pacer for the last half mile. Funny how the word "cheerleader" comes to mind again. lol. I was thankful for the support. I was able to finish in 57 minutes and 36 seconds. My goal was to do it under an hour so I was happy. He promised to do the whole run with me next time. I'm not holding my breath. lol. :)

super woman and a little stress

Rob taught Emery a new stunt and let me tell you, she is somewhat addicted to flying through the air. And no, Rob was not a cheerleader in high school. Surprising, I know. I am impressed by his "skills".


A Little Stress:
On another, less lighter note - we took little Riggs to the cranial specialist today and found out that he will need to wear a doc band / helmet. My little heart breaks for him. I know, I know, it's just a helmet that is temporary but you know what I mean. It's certainly nothing compared to little George (who is a friend of Jason and Molly - my heart goes out to little George and his family), so I seriously need to count my blessings, for they are many. The cranial device just looks hot and uncomfortable. Better this than more severe problems down the road. To look on the bright side - we can decorate / paint Rigg's helmet however we want so I am looking for opinions here - what color should it be and what should be put on it??? I'm thinking black with flames on the side - lol. If you click on the link above, you can check out all the neat designs. One of my favorites is painted blue and has what looks like caution tape around the helmet that reads, "Under Construction" - lol, very funny yet very true. We took some pictures today of our visit. He won't be fitted for the device until our next visit then it takes a couple of weeks for it to come in. We'll see how it goes...

turtle power

"Otis" was our pet for a few hours, thanks to Dad. No need to make an innocent baby turtle suffer through Emery. She touched him, gave him some water, fed him some bread then we called it a day. She was happy to let him go "back home".

We spent most of our Saturday afternoon outside in the pool, washing cars and doing yard work. Gotta love the bumbo!! I didn't have one with Emery but I sure wish I did. It's the best thing since sliced bread (at least for me) when it comes to hands free parenting. Riggs sat in the pool for over an hour. Emery is a good little entertainer too. After pool time he took a well deserved afternoon nap.

If you're wondering about the soapy pool water - Emery thought it would be good to pour out a bottle of bubbles in the pool to create MORE bubbles.

exhausted

Summer is wearing Emery out. Sun up to sun down, she is on the go. In the first picture, she fell asleep in her chair, during "quiet time" after we spent the afternoon swimming at Tonya's pool. Thank you Tonya and thank you Leslie for the cover up - as you can see, Emery wants to wear it everywhere all the time, hood and all.

One day Emery even slept in until 10am. That's right, 10am. Notice the giant plastic underwear. I took a picture of them because Rob and I find them fairly amusing but Emery tends to enjoy them. Potty training at night is a beast!! We're still trying to conquer that one.

Last but not least, the "asleep in the tub" picture. I can't even remember what we did that day to make her that tired. I do know that I was at church the night she did this so Rob had to deal with the squealing when it was time to wash and get out. What a trooper.

last day of preschool

Emery's last day of preschool was over a week ago. We have already spent one official week together - ALL day long. I must admit, we did well, better than expected. I say this because for those of you who know my little Emery, she is non-stop. I had no idea what we would do to stay busy. We went to three different libraries to kill some time, read a lot of books, watched Emery dance (a lot), colored, painted a picture for daddy, enjoyed "quiet time", ate popscicles outside (in 100 degree weather) and jumped on the bed. Any other ideas??
I took a picture of her last day of preschool before walking out the door. She is holding caramel sauce for their ice cream party. As for the picture of Riggs, I just figured he needed some face time too.

Pillow Fight

Emery loves a good pillow fight until, of course, someone gets hurt and starts to "cry". HA. The pillow fight was fun and all but my favorite part is Riggs on the couch. His look rarely changed during the commotion.

Riggs & Rice

Little Riggs had his first taste of rice cereal this past week. He didn't fuss but he didn't exactly show great excitement for it either. I am all about waiting until around 6 months of age for the more solid foods. The doctor said he's gaining weight properly so no need to rush things. Rob and I decided to let him try it because for a few days, he was eating constantly which is not normal for him. I thought he would like something more solid but I think it was just me being paranoid. I think we'll try again at a later date.
