one more week....

Hopefully this time next week, Riggs will be helmet free. I took a picture of his sweaty little head after his afternoon nap this week. And yes, we do keep his room fairly cool. lol. Goodbye to one stinky, sweaty head and a really cute "superman". Hello crazy, cow lick hair and one fine looking (somewhat proportionately straight) kissable little head.

Emery now likes to jump rope. Once she gets going, she's not too bad. It's the "getting going" part we need to work on. To help her master the art of jumping rope, she had a coupe of demonstrations - need I say more....

All Smiles

Not too much going on these days. Took these pictures on the way out the door to take Emery to preschool. They can really cheese it up. Little Mr. Riggs only has about 2 more weeks of the helmet. I'm excited for it to come off but not excited for all the bumps that will come shortly after. He is in the habit of banging his head on the floor, wall, table, etc. Either his head itches and this helps or he's just messing with us. Yesterday morning, I took the helmet off to change his clothes. He wandered into the living room, bent down and banged his head on the floor, completely on purpose. Good little goose egg for that one. Emery yelled, "Riggs!! You don't have your helmet on!!" lol. All I could do was laugh. Poor thing.

13.1 miles

Decided sometime last year to do the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon with a few of our friends. We were even able to talk Mark into it. It took me 1 hour 53 minutes and 51 seconds. Glad I ran, glad it's over. lol. Rob is thinking about doing one and I told him I would run with him. We'll see.
We headed down Friday night and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe with all of our friends. We then pawned our kids off on mom and dad at the hotel so we could get some sleep - 5:15am comes early when you're not used to getting up that time of morning. Besides, our kids sleep horribly in hotels. At least our babies do, especially ones with helmets who tend to bang their heads nosily up against the crib bars. THANKS mom and dad.
A HUGE THANKS to Rob for the great pictures. I think he ran almost as much as we did trying to catch us around town. It started at 6:30 am and he willingly tagged along to catch the action. Next time, he'll be running.

Zoo Weather

Ginger and I decided to take the kids to the zoo on Monday. It was Spencer's 5th Birthday. Happy Birthday Spencer!! The weather was GREAT. It's actually been really nice all week. The kids were really into the zoo maps this time. They each had one and would find every animal on the map they wanted to see. It's nice to see their brains expanding.

Cookie Monster

Riggs has caught on to regular foods, especially the sweet ones. We gave him a mini m&m chocolate chip cookie Friday night. He went to his corner in the kitchen and enjoyed every bite. I can't say I blame him. Of course Emery followed him like a hawk, to catch any left over crumbs. lol. (BTW, not that it needs explaining but I DID NOT dress Emery. She obviously dressed herself.)

Something worth blogging about...

This evening, our youth had the rare and great opportunity to speak with Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a "Question and Answer" session via satellite where our ward and a ward in Florida were able to ask them questions - we could see them and they could see us. Our youth did a GREAT job. For most, this is once in a lifetime and I am extremely grateful to have been a part of it. An experience that will not be forgotten...
