Friends

We have been planning a get together with several families in our ward for a while now. Today happened to be the ONE day we could all get together due to everyone's busy schedules. Our plan was a dessert night, especially s'mores but there is no arguing with mother nature. Right when everyone started to drive up the rain started to fall. We had kids playing games at the table, parents in the kitchen and even some hanging out in the garage. One day we hope to have an enclosed area big enough for everyone. One day. Despite all the chaos, the kids enjoyed playing in the rain while Jordan, Pam and I cooked up s'mores in the oven. We're hoping to try again soon with hopes of better weather. Then again, being on top of each other with rain soaked kids running around makes for a good time too...I guess. :)

Stuff

Not too much going on around here. Just a few pics from my days with the boys. I spend most days trying to keep Klein somewhat contained - off the kitchen table, off the kitchen drawers, off the bedroom end table, out of the bathroom cabinets, off the top bunk. The list goes on. More often than not, I do remember to keep doors closed, ladders down and chairs pushed in but every now and again he will find one available and make his way to the top of where ever he may be. He is ALL boy.
I snapped a picture of Emery and Rob before they left for school Thursday morning. No special reason, just had a few minutes to spare. I only have to take Emery to school once a month and that's because Rob has a meeting at work. So nice.
Now that Emery is gone most of the day, Riggs has become fond of computer games. When she's home, he will sit with her in the computer chair and gladly watch. Every now and again he will request her to play a certain game but be never voiced his opinion to play, only observe. One day he asked me if he could play on the computer. I agreed and wondered what he would do. Apparently a lot of "watching" taught him exactly what to do. He went to every game he wanted and never asked me for help, not even once. I was amused. Classic Riggs.

First Soccer Game

Emery and Riggs had their first soccer games of the season this morning. The games were both at 9am (on fields beside each other) so Rob and I stood in between the fields going back and forth trying our best to catch all the action. This being Riggs' first soccer season, we were not sure what to expect. Well unlike Emery, who cried her way through the first game, Riggs ran around the field (almost aimlessly) screaming and laughing as if he were riding a roller coaster (check out the last pic). My mom and I laughed so much. Riggs was loving it. And to make matters even more interesting, he happened to be at the right place at the right time and scored a goal. He was so surprised. He just stood there with his mouth wide open and we cheered as loud as we could. So funny. Emery on the other hand was wide open the entire game. Rob put her back on a co-ed team and although she said she was a little nervous, they blew the whistle, she ran up the field and scored the first goal right off the bat. Atta girl!! She played really well and held her own, something I was a little skeptical about. There seemed to be a whole lot of boys and two girls. So glad this doesn't seem to bother nor intimidate her.
We are happy they both seem to be enjoying themselves, at least for now. We have a feeling the fun might wear out for Riggs and we may have to try golf. It seems to be more his pace. Go Bulldogs (Riggs) and Go Galaxy (Emery)!!!

Newness

It's September 11, 2011. Ten years. Rob and I have been watching 9/11 specials all week long and we still watch in amazement. It's still so hard to believe.... I wanted to share a few pics from last week before it got too late - Emery's FIRST day of dance (ballet and jazz). She was extremely excited and enjoyed it so much. It's so much fun to pick her up and hear her talk about it. Then again, I enjoy asking about her days everyday. Sometimes she'll say, "But mom, you already asked me that." I know, I'm just eager to hear about her days, even the crazy little details like who she sat beside at lunch and what she played at recess. :) The other pics are of Riggs' FIRST day of soccer. He was not extremely excited but Emery was a great big sister and really talked him up. She helped him become excited about it. He's a "careful" soccer player. Is there such thing?? At least he's giving it a shot. Here's to another "new" for us in 2011. I guess that could apply to a lot of things.....

Labor Day Weekend

Nothing fancy this weekend, just enjoyed the time off and the time together. I think I should rename my blog that - "Nothing Fancy". We took the kids out Friday night to ride the little train at the outdoor shopping center. We don't usually stay out past Klein's bedtime because he's up early no matter what time he goes down. Same for Riggs. Needless to say, we ALL enjoy our sleep. Getting home at 9:30 is considered late for us, especially with the little ones in tow. Surprisingly, they were not as cranky and fussy as we thought they would be. Maybe we could do it more often. Maybe. As for the other pics, they're random. Emery had to complete her homework before she went to the movies (The Smurfs) with grandma this afternoon. Movies and shopping with grandma is the best leverage. They will do anything for movies and shopping with grandma and they will do it with a smile on their face no less. ;) After their afternoon with grandma, they came home and "played" together. That's what the last picture portrays - Klein waking up from his nap, Emery on Rody in her ballet clothes (minus the hoodie) and Riggs on the table eating grapes. Rob and I walked in together to see what was going on and this made us smile.
