Happy Birthday Dad!

On Monday evening, we celebrated Dad's birthday. The numbers "26" came in handy, just had to reverse them up a bit. Mom thought we had bought the balloons just for this occasion. Too funny! Dad enjoyed a nice cake that was obviously catered to Riggs. Riggs originally wanted a truck theme birthday cake but changed to Toy Story. I already had the stuff for the dump truck cake so that's what dad received. We also enjoyed an oreo pie from Sis Vikki. She always remembers our little ones on their birthdays. Such a kind lady. I have one more birthday post since we just had Riggs' party yesterday. Fun stuff!

Charleston Marathon

On Saturday, January 19th, I ran my first marathon. I started training back in October, running 4 days of the week - 3 days during and one long run on Saturday mornings. I'm happy to say I ran one but not happy with my time and the leg cramps experienced during. That's how it goes though. Some runs are good, some runs are not. A HUGE shout out to my friends - Denise - for the AWESOME balloons that were left in my front yard! Lindsey - for a great training partner, lots of long runs, lots of long talks while on long runs, AWESOME garage door sign, and my favorite treats of all time! Holly - another great training partner who could do this whole marathon thing in her sleep. Laura - who actually convinced me to do a marathon. And no, I don't hate you for it! And Rob again - because I could never thank him enough. Glad to have the experience. I'll probably do another one because I would love to experience one without leg cramps and with a better time. Wish me luck!

Because Everyone's Horn Deserves To Be Tooted

The title of this blog makes me laugh. I was going to call it "My Hero" but how boring when you can use "tooted" instead. I know Rob would like it which is a good thing because it's all about him. Recently, I have been training for a marathon. I want to write a post about "my hero" before I write about my marathon and here's why: If it were not for Rob, I would not be running one. Sure I had a few friends who truly convinced me to do one but if it weren't for Rob, it would not be possible. I tried to do most of my training while he was at work as to not mess too much with our family time. Although once, he did go into work late so I could have a long run that day because Saturday was taken with other obligations. Yes, he's that good to me. Most of my long runs were early Saturday mornings so as to not miss our Saturdays together. When I came home from my long runs, he was up cooking breakfast for everyone. While at the race, he drove myself and our friends to the start line. He made his way around the course to find me so I could see our little ones during the run. At the end of the race when I was sore and tired, he drove us home, unpacked everything and did the laundry so I could rest. I am very blessed. I must also say, his kindness has gone far beyond this training. He does much more for our family and always has since before this whole crazy training schedule started. He packs Em's lunch because "A peanut butter and jelly sandwich should be fresh". He pours their milk in the morning and leaves it in the fridge so it's one less thing I have to do. He takes my two bags (church & kid stuff) to church on Sunday mornings and leaves them by our bench so I won't have to carry them. He takes Riggs to school every Wednesday morning so I can be on time to "my job". He takes Riggs with him when he goes home teaching. He puts my towel over the shower door when he knows I'm getting in. He likes to cook (yay!). He lightens my load on a daily basis and I can only hope and pray that I do the same for him. So here's to Rob! Thank you Rob for being a wonderful husband, an amazing father, an honorable priesthood holder and my hero. Our family is blessed because of you. Toot! Toot! ;)

Birthday Boy

Our little Jonah Riggs turned five years old this week. He had a great time in his preschool class with cupcakes and parachute time. What more could a kid ask for?! I mean seriously. Parachutes are nothing short of amazing. And you know it too. We all remember parachute days in P.E. Later that evening, we we had more cupcakes and ice cream as well as a few presents. His party is next weekend so there is more fun to come!

First Dental Visit

Klein had his first visit to the dentist this week. I was expecting the worst. He let them clean his teeth and also let the dentist poke around but would not let them use the light (in other words, cried when they turned it on) and he also wouldn't let the assistant look in his mouth with the mirror. In the end, he did okay. They were VERY patient with him. Since I know Klein and his fierce attitude, I was happy we got as far as we did. I honestly thought we were going to have to walk out all because they looked at him wrong. He can be so touchy to say the least. Good job Klein!

Kindergarten Registration

Is it already time?? Say it isn't so.... I can't believe "our time" at home is almost up. I hate to be the sappy mom but right now I am. I'm going to miss having this little guy around during the day. So, so much.
