Mom and Dad headed west for Jason's MBA graduation. They took Em to Spokane last time so it was Riggs' turn for a trip. Apparently, Riggs had a GREAT time. He enjoyed a train ride, butterfly museum, a Rockies game, the cockpit of an airplane, Jason's graduation party complete with a real ice cream truck with "free!" ice cream (per Riggs), and lots of fun time with his friend ("cousin") Brody. So glad he enjoyed and behaved himself with mom and dad. :) Thanks mom and dad and congrats to Jason!

Last Day of School

Summer is officially here. The kids were so excited for the last days of school. The top picture is the first day of school (Em - 3rd grade, Riggs - kindergarten, Klein - 3yr old preschool) and the bottom picture is the last day. I hope the summer does not fly by as fast as the school year did.

Lunch Notes

I have sent lunch notes from the beginning of time so this is nothing new. By beginning of time, I technically mean 2010 when Em started kindergarten. ;) Riggs was no different. After his first couple of weeks in kindergarten, he came home and reminded me that he could not read some of the words I wrote AND to "Quit putting all those symbols on there." By "symbols", he meant - xoxo. He had no idea what they meant. I guess it would help if I explained them. ;) So, I asked him what he would like for me to write and he requested a picture of a truck. From that day on, I drew only some type of car, truck, boat, train, plane, etc. Sometime near the latter part of October, while packing Riggs' lunch, I opened a zipper pocket and noticed he was saving all the lunch notes I was sending in his lunch box. I guess he kind of liked them. Since then, I had to become creative. I Googled pictures every night - anything and everything pertaining to whatever he happened to see or play with that day, not to mention vehicles I have never even seen or heard of (especially military ones) that he had seen on the Discovery channel. He ended up with 145 pictures. There are 180 days of school so the first couple of weeks weren't pictures, he bought school lunch several times, and for field trips I drew on the paper bag he took because it all had to be disposable. I think I am now grateful he is able to read. ;)

New Calling

Rob carries a lot of titles these days - husband, father, priesthood holder, money maker, baker, four square player, grass cutter, vacuum-er, book reader, snuggler, O-ball player (with Em and her class during recess), chef, peace maker, basketball player, skink killer, family prayer conductor, toy fixer, chocolate milk buyer, soccer coach, school lunch maker, mid-day school visitor, trash taker-outer, school chauffeur, and last but not least (as of Sunday June 1st), Bishop. Here's to a new chapter in our life. :)

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, we had a small "Get Together" for Memorial Day (Dik is a retired fighter pilot) as well as a farewell to several members of our HIIT class that are moving away this summer. Dik and Patty were our gracious hosts - they are grandparents of 3 little ones who live far away, but hosts to LOTS of littles (all over their house and yard) because 6 of the people in the group photo are LDS. ;) Our friends who are moving away are either military or finishing up graduate school and headed on to bigger and better things. We had a lot of fun - lots of great food and fun games for the kids. The bottom photo is a picture of our kiddos with their "Fit N Fun" teacher at the Y. We love Ms. Stacey! She puts up with all of our rowdy kids while we take our class. So, "goodbye" to all of our dear friends. Although, I would like to think it's never "goodbye", only "See ya later".

Splash Day

Splash Day is a highly anticipated event. The kids, teachers, volunteers, and parents have the best time. This year was certainly no different. ;)
